ExV Agency's Shades of Change White Paper
The Shades of Change: New Foundations of the Beauty Industry was produced in partnership with the Beauty Connect.
The ExV Agency launched their white paper, Shades of Change: The New Foundations of the Beauty Industry, in partnership with the recent Beauty Connect conference held in LA from Nov. 2-3, 2022.
The ExV Agency is a global content production, PR, events, and white paper production agency with offices in New York, Hong Kong, and Atlanta. As a strategic media partner to Beauty Connect, a leading industry platform focused on driving innovation, investment, and partnerships in the beauty and wellness market, it was important for ExV to produce the white paper to reveal how the industry is becoming more inclusive and sustainable.
"Our white papers go beyond statistics. We aim to showcase what steps established brands and industry leaders are taking to create more inclusive and sustainable practices within their companies, as well as the example they are setting for emerging brands," says Karen Gamba, CEO of the ExV Agency.
The annual Beauty Connect LA Conference draws more than 350 executive attendees and industry leaders over two days of immersive content to spotlight industry trends and opportunities for global beauty brands. Partners of the conference include Estee Lauder, Croda and Dash Hudson.
The Shades of Change white paper reveals how beauty brands are building more inclusive spaces to increase representation, create more gender-neutral brands, and develop products that epitomize sustainable and clean beauty. Contributors to the ExV Agency white paper include Helen Nwosu, VP of Social Impact at Prose; Nyakio Grieco, Co-Founder of thirteen lune; Christina Williams, Brand Manager of Sunday II Sunday; and Marie Antoinette, award-winning documentary filmmaker, and author MELANIN.
Sarah Irby, a 20+ year beauty marketing executive and co-founder of MELE skincare, shared: "The beauty industry is changing slowly, but surely. Unlike in the past, where change was happening on a superficial level by offering deeper shades in foundation, the social justice movement precipitated a shift and emphasized the understanding that people of color need to be represented through broader product choices, and inside brands and business at all levels. It is up to us, beauty insiders of color, to keep our noses to the grindstone, and remain vocal internal advocates to ensure this is a permanent mindset shift and not a fleeting trend."
"There is work to be done when it comes to creating more inclusive spaces across industries. We hope, through our white papers, to share what industries are doing to make impactful changes for all," added Frank Carlisi, COO of the ExV Agency.
