WASHINGTON – October 20, 2022 – (Newswire.com)

A new study of current or eligible Medicare recipients conducted on behalf of the Radiology Patient Action Network shows that nearly half of women indicate that they have not received a mammogram in the last three years. Conducting and released during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the study also found that 80 percent of Americans are concerned with proposed cuts to Medicare, and 90 percent of Americans view maintaining Medicare coverage as important.

“As policymakers continue to propose cuts to Medicare, it is clear any new cuts would worsen health inequities and damage the health of the American people,” said Bob Still, Executive Director of the RBMA. “At a time when patients are already having difficulty receiving the care they need — like mammography screenings proven to detect and prevent breast cancer — members of Congress should take note of these findings and protect Medicare.”

Dr. Kellie Schenk, a board-certified diagnostic radiologist with EPIC Imaging, PC, in Oregon and Imaging for a Cause participant, underscored the severity of the survey’s mammography findings. “Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women and, if not caught and treated early, can be disfiguring and deadly. We recommend average-risk women receive mammography screenings every year beginning at age 40 and high-risk women talk to their doctor about screenings prior to 40 to increase the chances of early detection, which not only saves lives but makes treatment much easier and less disruptive for patients and their families. It is alarming that nearly half of Medicare-aged women haven’t received their annual mammogram given the benefits of screening in this age group, and we encourage them to get one scheduled as soon as possible. It is clear that further cuts to Medicare providers and vital screening services would only exacerbate this issue by limiting appointments and compromising quality of care.”

In addition to survey respondents’ concern for Medicare cuts and lack of mammography screenings, 1 in 4 current patients reported having difficulty scheduling doctors’ appointments due to delays or rescheduling. Almost half of all respondents said they would be less likely to support a member of Congress if they advocate for cuts.

The survey was conducted Sept. 25 through Sept. 27, 2022. The national survey sample consists of 1,632 Americans either enrolled in Medicare or Medicare-eligible. Margin of Error is +/-2.5% with a 95% level of confidence. The study was jointly sponsored by the Medical Imaging and Technology Alliance (MITA), Imaging for a Cause, and the Radiology Business Management Association (RBMA) and conducted by the Remington Research Group.

CDC: Flu Cases Increasing Early

CDC’s FluView report shows early increases in the proportion of respiratory specimens testing positive for flu

HOUSTON – October 20, 2022 – (Newswire.com)

With the CDC reporting flu cases starting to climb, healthcare providers across the U.S. are preparing for an early wave of influenza this winter. In addition to urging everyone eligible to get immunized against COVID-19 and the flu, hospitals are renting medical equipment from US Med-Equip (USME) to help treat any influx of patients expected this flu season.

The cases of respiratory illnesses caused by the flu typically start to climb exponentially in November, spike through the holiday months and peak through the end of February. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention this week reported “early increases in seasonal influenza activity … in most of the United States.”

Amid prolonged strain on clinical staff and budgets since COVID struck, hospitals are turning to trusted partner USME—the nation’s leading provider of rented respiratory, neonatal, infusion and other devices—to bolster their supplies of life-saving equipment before the annual flu epidemic strikes. The Houston-based company partners with top hospitals across the nation in the rental, sales, service and asset management of movable medical equipment ranging from ventilators to patient beds and therapeutic surfaces that a hospital may need based on the number of patients expected or admitted at the time.

“We’re all hoping for a mild season with low case numbers and as few hospitalizations as possible, but healthcare providers are not waiting for flu cases to spike before securing and servicing equipment to be ready to help any surge of patients,” US Med-Equip CEO Greg Salario said.

Legalboards won as most improved application

Clio’s CEO Jack Newton and Legalboards’ CEO Rafael Miranda on the final keynote at Clio Cloud Conference 2022 in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – October 19, 2022 – (Newswire.com)

Clio announced Clearbrief and Legalboards as the 2022 recipients of “Best New App” and “Most Improved App” at Launch//Code during the 10th annual Clio Cloud Conference. Both will receive $50,000 and directly impact the productivity of their users.

Contest winners are also aligned with Clio CEO Jack Newton’s opening remarks about the need for firms to become more antifragile- and agile. Newton also emphasized the need for applying agile methods in the legal process to achieve and improve efficiency during his opening remarks at the conference. Both contest winners directly impact the productivity of their users. Clio also announced that Legalboards is one of the first featured apps to be directly embedded within their Clio Manage interface, adding to the emphasis on agility.

Both sessions at the conference and the Legal Trends Report, released by Clio, emphasized the need for firms to adapt to upcoming changes to continue their success from 2021-early 2022. With a recession looming and caseloads currently increasing, it’s important for legal professionals to be able to become more productive, continue delivering high-quality service to clients, and maintain a work/life balance.

Legal technology is pivotal in helping firms navigate these challenges while growing and scaling the firm. The winners of Launch//Code help legal professionals save time, automate processes, and provide professionals with insights about how they work. While technology can help practitioners become more agile, it’s also essential to keep in mind the importance of developing processes that are agile within themselves and shifting our mindset.

Legalboards is a growing startup founded in 2019 and operates in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Legalboards focuses on helping legal professionals save time by organizing, tracking, and managing their workflow in a visual way through the use of Kanban boards and automation flows for daily practice.
