MADISON, Wis. – October 13, 2022 – (Newswire.com)

DARK MATTER an exhibition by British artist Faisal Abdu’Allah, is now on view at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA). The exhibition explores personal identity, cultural representation, and self-determination.

DARK MATTER, open through April 2, 2023, includes a selection of the artist’s most celebrated series, as well as a reconstruction of Garden of Eden (2003/2022), an architectural installation the artist created in collaboration with renowned architect Sir David Adjaye. It is the first time that Garden of Eden will be exhibited in the United States. This interactive work separates visitors based on genetic traits—in this case, eye color. With Garden of Eden, Abdu’Allah points to the privileges conferred to certain people based on the nuances of their genetic matter.

In other works, Abdu’Allah uses human hair—a carrier of DNA—and focuses on the ritual of cutting hair. Abdu’Allah is also a trained barber, a profession he has fully integrated into his artistic practice, most notably through his Live Salon performances (2006-present). During each Live Salon session, he provides free haircuts to willing participants and engages them in open-ended conversations about issues surrounding contemporary social identity and representation.

In Hairtraits (2016-present), Abdu’Allah uses participants’ actual hair, which he blends into a fine powder to render their portrait on paper. The artist explains, “Essentially, it brings their DNA, their identity, into the work. Our hair carries a trace of who we are, and it is extremely political. In the history of post-colonialism, the straighter your hair was, the higher up on the chain of respect you were.”

As a prelude to DARK MATTER, a stone counter-monument titled Blu³eprint was installed outside the Museum in February 2022. Abdu’Allah first conceived of the sculpture several years ago in response to debates about the role of monuments and their removal from public view.

DARK MATTER was organized by former MMoCA Curator of Exhibitions Leah Kolb. Presenting Sponsorship for DARK MATTER has been provided by the National Endowment for the Arts and The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Faisal Abdu’Allah is a British-born, Wisconsin-based artist and barber. He studied in London at the Royal College of Art. He is Professor of Printmaking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the 2019 Mayor of London Award, 2016 Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant Program for Painters and Sculptors, 2012 Mayors prize for sustainability for his film Double Pendulum, Decibel Visual Artist Award, London, and First Prize at the Tallinn Print Triennial, Estonia.

Abdu’Allah is an Honorary Professor at the University of Bedfordshire (UK). In 2021, he was named the Chazen Family Distinguished Chair in Art at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

LOS ANGELES – October 13, 2022 – (Newswire.com)

Ideal Living, a global leader in health and wellness solutions that include air purification, water purification, and nutritional supplements, has announced AromaTru, a new brand that is focused on improving the ease and benefits of aromatherapy and has introduced its waterless new app-powered essential oil diffuser AromaTru.

AromaTru’s exclusive diffusion technology disperses an ultra-fine mist of essential oils directly from their bottles through a waterless process known as atomization. Featuring a unique, patent-pending carousel that allows users to diffuse up to four essential oils at a time, AromaTru allows complete fragrance creation and flexibility. Unlike traditional diffusers, AromaTru does not require the user to count or measure essential oil drops, nor does it require constant cleaning when they change oils. Because of its advanced waterless technology, it is free from the risk of mold and of contaminants that can be found in water.

AromaTru can be operated by the operating panel directly from the device or can also be connected to the AromaTru Smart App through Wi-Fi for additional benefits. The AromaTru Smart App allows for the remote creation and scheduling of custom blends. Users can select an energizing blend for morning wake-up and a relaxing blend for the end of day. AromaTru includes a mood-enhancing light ring to complete a spa-like experience.

AromaTru also offers its own comprehensive line of USDA Organic or Wildcrafted essential oils curated by Expert Advisor Gabriel Mojay, co-chair of International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists (IFPA). All AromaTru essential oils and oil collections are ethically sourced and sustainable.

“AromaTru brings the power of nature into your home through the alchemy of aromatherapy and modern technology. I began this journey because I wanted to use essential oils to make my home and office smell better, to lift me up and calm me when it was time to relax. But when I started looking at what was available, I was shocked at how unsanitary and unsophisticated essential oil diffusers are. I wanted to create a safe, clean alternative so you can fill the air you breathe with pure, safe essential oils at any time of the day or night,” said Peter Spiegel, founder and co-CEO of AromaTru and Ideal Living.

About Ideal Living

FORO Founder Brett Boston: ‘Time to Talk About How Good A.I. is Getting for Meeting IIJA Challenges’

ATLANTA – October 13, 2022 – (Newswire.com)

Artificial Intelligence is a proven technology for identifying hidden data relationships and patterns in massive amounts of data. While its use in banking, retail and healthcare has been widespread it is underutilized for transportation decision making. FORO is proving it’s time to start taking its potential seriously for meeting transportation challenges.

FORO pioneered AI solutions in Indiana over three years ago, when they built customized algorithms to process INDOT asset management data. Using a real-time process with INDOT stakeholders, FORO developed an AI engine to process and refine project decisions and financials. This approach identified an additional $106 million in savings for project bundling and reduced the time required to select them from months to minutes.

Since then, FORO has expanded its AI process into:

  • Automating estimate and bid process analysis
  • Prioritizing and sequencing IIJA projects
  • Projecting IIJA impacts on contract letting and pricing
  • Calculating and identifying equity across projects

FORO and AI for DOTs has been growing ever since. Why? The answer is simple. Visionary DOT clients need new ways to maximize their mission given their limited resources and staff. Especially now with the influx of new funds from the Federal Infrastructure Investment & Job Acts.

Applying AI to specific agency challenges is where FORO’s tailored approach for has blossomed. It is FORO and DOT staffs working together to build custom AI engines that actually work to save staff time, money, and to make better strategic decisions.

“Technology is part of the solution, but it isn’t the whole answer,” says Vern Herr, Chief AI Evangelist of FORO. “Our process is human-centric. People aren’t going away. They’re just going to be able to move faster, make fewer mistakes and understand what data is really useful for making decisions. AI helps people and processes get smarter quickly.”

FORO’s AI philosophy is prudent: Take a one-step-at-a-time approach. They work hand-in-hand with their DOT clients to identify the places where AI can add value, gather relevant client data, and define vital business rules.

FORO founder Brett Boston says, “Working with DOT partners we are creating the next generation of AI applications for DOTs across the country. Now with the huge influx of IIJA funding, our DOT expertise has never been more relevant or in demand. Since staffs are not increasing and there are no in-house data AI gurus, FORO helps DOTs make the most of what they have, fulfill their mission and maximize stewardship/the value of taxpayer dollars.

“The American infrastructure needs work. Our roads and bridges are outdated in many areas and it’s the roads that keep the economy rolling. And it is the job and responsibility of each DOT to get that done. And we love to help these dedicated professionals maintain the best transportation system on the planet running as efficiently as possible.

“Their challenges are many and FORO AI is a small part in meeting those challenges. Our customers have always been our best advertising. No moon-shot promises, just grounded and demonstrable results using our FORO process and AI.”

Every AI journey starts with a first step, and that step for transportation is getting better every day with FORO.
