WASHINGTON, March 14, 2023 (Newswire.com) - In his new book, Superpower in Peril: A Battle Plan to Renew America (Center Street, March 14, 2023), David McCormick - veteran, job creator, and former candidate for the U.S. Senate - outlines a conservative agenda for American renewal that fuses the populist impulse with common-sense reforms that would educate people, confront China, and secure America. Dave argues that one of the few things the left and right can agree on is that America seems stuck in a downward spiral of stagnation, disillusionment, and decline. And in the face of China's campaign for global supremacy, the nation needs leaders who will fight to preserve America's superpower status.
Drawing on management and leadership lessons honed in uniform, in the boardroom, and at the highest levels of government, McCormick issues a call for servant leadership that is as relevant for entrepreneurs and the business community as for politicians and policymakers. McCormick explains that there is a global race for supremacy in talent, technology, and data, and the sad fact is America is losing. He says that the nation can resign itself to mediocrity, squabbling over nonsense in Washington and relitigating past grievances, all while China is plotting to subvert America's role as a superpower, or leaders can come up with a battle plan to put America on a different course. In Superpower in Peril, Dave explains:
- The country is caught in a cycle of stagnation, disillusionment, and decline. The economy has flatlined and is losing its dynamism. The military's technological edge is fading. America has become slow and weak on the world stage. And worst of all, institutions are decaying, and leaders have yet to meet the moment. To reverse course, America needs transformational leaders who will find opportunities to break this cycle, to expand the frontiers of our power, and to begin a new era of American leadership.
- The story of the most contested, high-profile Republican primary in the country, and how what happened there paved the way for Republicans to fail to win the majority in the Senate and for Pennsylvania to not have a Republican senator for the first time in seven decades.
- The Chinese Communist Party is the single greatest challenge to America since the Soviet Union, if not ever. It steals technology, undermines the economy, threatens allies, and aims to supplant America as the global superpower. Under Xi Jinping, its ambitions threaten one's very way of life. Yet leaders have been far too slow to recognize the danger. As Americans, it's time to realize that one can't wait any longer and that petty in-fighting won't mean anything if China wins.
- A bold vision for the future of the country and a battle plan to keep America exceptional by revitalizing the American dream and unleashing the potential in all Americans. In order to be competitive in the years ahead, the nation must harness the vast potential of the digital age and win the race for technological supremacy.
